What is ticker?

A ticker is also called a stock ticker or stock symbol. It is a unique symbol assigned to each company listed in stock market. With the ticker we can remember listed companies in better way. Similar to listed companies tickers also available for Mutual Funds and ETF (Exchange Traded Funds). In Stock exchanges along with a share price, these unique tickers also gets displayed. Examples of a ticker in NSE (India) is as TATAMOTORS ticker for Tata Motors Ltd company.
